i expect this will be deleted. Judging by the miraculas speed edge loaded the html page (what I saw, not what I heard) i'd have to say that I suspect that it has been presaved, hense the pacy uploading of Images (didnt load so fast when i tried the same sites). Of course viewing pages in phone format will improve download times, but any 3g phone can do that and faster than edge. So thanks, great tip but Lets face it iphone2 needs 3.5g and guarenteed flash web player to fulfill Steve Jobs promise of 'non watered down internet'.

This is of course applicable to any phone - and with a WAP browser (such as Opera/Mobile), this is the default behavior when you search on Google.

Now, my real comment/question is: Not being an iPhone owner (and not likely to be one until they add a few more features to the phone, such as a DUN bluetooth profile, 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) network speeds, etc) - is it not possible to configure Safari to use a web proxy server directly - as it is on almost any other phone?

If so, go ahead and use "wireless.cingular.com" as a HTTP proxy - that will speed up things too.

If not - WTF!? Yet ANOTHER basic feature that is missing in the iPhone? Well, no sweat - go download Opera Mini (http://www.operamini.com/). It uses Opera's own proxy servers to speed up internet surfing - and its preview/fullsize switching is also a bit snappier/smoother than the iPhone Safari browser..

WAIT! I forgot - the iPhone cannot run 3rd party (j2me) apps! Oh damn.

Heh. Heh. I gotta say anyone who shells out $399 (let alone the original $599 price) for this thing do deserve what they get..
